Monday Made It!

I am happy to report that I was able to save the ugly cardboard mailbox! I finished them just in time to link up with 4th Grade Frolics!
Here is the BEFORE...

And here is the AFTER!

I'm not going to lie...I am in LOVE with my new mailbox cubbies! I'm glad I was able to save them because these babies are pretty expensive. I think I saw one on Amazon for around $60!

Here is how I saved mine. First I took off all the wrapping paper and construction paper. I also tried to peel off the stickers that were already on it. I then bought spray paint from Michaels. I used a 50% off coupon and my 15% teacher discount. At first I got 1 can...it was not nearly enough. This sucker took 3 cans of spray paint!

After spray painting it, I put some contact paper on it. I got the fabulous chevron contact paper from Amazon. You can get it here. (They also have a promotion, buy 4, pay for 3!) Applying the contact paper took me the longest because I am a perfectionist.

Next I printed out the numbers on card stock and taped them down. I got them from Amy Lemons  "Get Your Chevron On" pack on Teachers Pay Teachers. I also used some of the tape to secure the contact paper better on the edges and make the cubbies more sturdy.

I'm so excited with how it came out! What do you think? Anyone else out there obsessed with CHEVRON like me?? Oh, and if you like this weeks "Monday Made It" just wait until next week! It's quick, you will need it and I bet you already have all the supplies...oh yeah...what a build up ;)
